I love this pic of Einstein. So cozy. Book corner, wicker basket, corncob pipe and sandals. A man of taste and style. One day I will have that mustache, and my grandkids will marvel at its vast tectonic movements as I nibble on kasha varnishkes (a bland and unappetizing excuse for sustenance that I assume will appeal to me as an elderly chump) and usher forth small blips and burps like a devilish hamster-man cocooned in his den.
The energy from this picture, however, comes from the strange socked shoe protruding into the bottom left corner. A shoe that supposes discussion and collaboration instead of the contentment and contemplation of a man alone with his books.
Well, for the past few weeks I’ve been protruding-shoe-less, taking some time to travel a bit and visit old friends. A life-highlight was watching the Tour de France, an experience which surpassed even the high expectations of my bicycle-addled brain. Mostly, it was fun to not worry about work for a bit- just kidding, the less I work the more I worry and I got some good writing time in too.
Something I did think about was the nature of this newsletter. I’m not entirely sure what you guys want to read! Should it be shorter notes or longer things-to-read? Music-focused, me-focused, or just unfocused?
To that end, here’s a quick poll:
(“See poll but not answering” is a perfectly good option. Will help me gauge how many of you don’t care between one or the other. I know I don’t often answer polls, but would click a “see poll but not answering” button.)
Now, it’s back to work. The thing, I think, is TikTok. It’s about time I double-down. The thing is, making a TikTok when you have a really fun idea is…very fun. Sitting down without a very fun idea and “making a TikTok,” however, is like doing multiplication tables in the dentists chair. I actually have a dentist appointment later today. I’ll do my 1-12s and then come home and make a TikTok and let you know which is more like pulling teeth.
Sitting down with nothing and writing a song? That’s fun as hell. One of my favorite things to do. So, I think I’ll start just doing little songs on TikTok. Sound good to people?
FINAL NOTE
I’ve been trying to think of things similar in vibe to the phrase:
Mitochondria, powerhouse of the cell.
Iconic.
If you can think of a similar type of phrase, please comment, let me know.
Swim swim swim,
Austin
I tried getting off of tiktok, now its time to install it again! just for you austin, I wish you best of luck with the tiktok algorithm!!!
This probably isn't helpful but you could write a newsletter about *almost* anything and I'd be totally into it
